Nae (No Animal Exploitation) is a Portuguese Vegan footwear brand.
We propose a fair and animal-friendly alternative against human exploitation and respect the environment. We want to be an option for those who are looking for Portuguese designed footwear, and who present an increased responsibility to their own surrounding.
Our Philosophy
Nae was born under the assumption of no animal exploitation and focuses not only the natural and ecological materials, but also on the design, style and quality that Portuguese footwear is already recognized for. All the products we manufacture are ethical and designed for the consumer and their daily comfort.
Our Strategy
Our strategy is to create modern products that are designed for everyday use. The products are only manufactured in certified factories in Portugal, where we respect our employees and do not use any product of animal origin, or that damages the environment. Moreover, we work with natural materials such as cork and pineapple leaf fibres, recycled materials such as airbags and PET - plastic bottles, and synthetic materials like ecological microfibers.Â
Meet Our Founders
Paula Pérez
Created NAE in 2008 with her husband, Alex. For the past 11 years, they have been developing NAE to bring more sustainability to the fashion business. With a master’s in Information Management and a degree in Applied Mathematics, Paula decided to launch NAE Vegan Shoes to test her entrepreneurial vein and develop a business with the values she identifies herself with.
Alex Perez
Created NAE in 2008 with his wife, Paula. From the beginning, they realized that they would have to change the way consumers buy, offering more ethical products throughout their value chain. After graduating in Applied Mathematics, Alex had always worked in the area of Information Technologies but quickly felt engaged in the shoe business.
